About Cork Millner

Cork Millner

Before he began to write professionally, Cork Millner was a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier pilot. He terminatedthat career after 20 years (and 850 carrier landings) because - as he says – “I was terrified.” Opting for a safer more sedentary “second life,” he now authors award-winning theatrical plays, a few struggling screenplays, fifteen nonfiction books, and five novels, the first of which, POLO WIVES, was accepted for publication in 2001 by Time Warner iPublish.

He has sold over 400 magazine articles on travel, wine and celebrities to such publications as Playboy, Seventeen, Los Angeles Times, The Saturday Evening Post, Travel, Vintage, The Military Officer, Writer s Digest, The Writer and Santa Barbara Magazine. Most recently, in 2008, Cork was contracted by AdamsMedia to write the nonfiction book, THE EVERYTHING SHAKESPEARE BOOK, 2nd Edition.

Cork Millner has a Master of Arts degree from the University of California in Theater Arts (emphasis playwriting), and a BA degree from the University of Maryland. He teaches writing for Santa Barbara City College and has been on the literary staff of the prestigious Santa Barbara Writer’s Conference for over 20 years, acting as conference coordinator for five years. He is also the coordinator for the annual Santa Barbara City College “Writer's Workshop,” now in its 26th year

Cork is featured frequently at wine appreciation seminars and gives celebrity talks on cruise ships and at professional club meetings, where his knowledge and wit both enlighten and entertain. On Princess Cruise Lines he's billed as a “Wine Humorist.”
